I was just having a conversation yesterday with a friend. She was telling me about a conversation that she and her 7-year-old were having in the car, in which the daughter expressed some doubt that Santa Claus was real and mentioned that she was pretty sure the mommies and daddies were behind everything. Since my friend's 4-year-old was also in the car, my friend deflected the conversation. They've had a challenging year this year and my friend expressed sadness at the idea of her daughter giving up belief in Santa Claus along with everything else they've been through. The classic children's book, The Polar Express, is about that very stage of life, when young children start to wonder about what they've been told and doubt the truth of Santa Claus.
This year celebrates the 30th anniversary of the publication of The Polar Express and, to celebrate, a new edition of the book has been published. This edition comes along with a lovely Polar Express tree ornament and access to a free download of the story being read by Liam Neeson. This is a lovely book with a sweet story and beautiful illustrations. If your home library doesn't already have a copy of The Polar Express, be sure to pick one up for this Christmas!
