Seattle Children's Theatre presents Elephant & Piggie's We are in a Play!

*Disclosure: I received tickets to attend this show with my family. All opinions posted here are mine and mine alone.

When I heard at the end of the 2014-2015 Seattle Children's Theatre season that one of the shows in the 2015-2016 season would be one featuring the much beloved Elephant & Piggie characters, I think I was just as excited about seeing it as my kids were.

By the time opening night arrived, I'd told pretty much everyone that I was going to see Elephant & Piggie's We are in a play! I couldn't wait! And, as per usual with Seattle Children's Theatre productions, I was not disappointed. Here's a bit about the play, from the SCT website:

Elephant & Piggie's "We Are in a Play!"

Script and lyrics by Mo Willems
Music by Deborah Wicks La Puma

When Gerald and Piggie get together, anything is possible. They might get invited to a fancy pool costume party, learn a crazy new dance, or decide to spend the day skipping and playing ping-pong in silly hats. These two pals and their devotion to each other through ups and downs will remind you of how good it feels to put friends first. Based on the wildly popular, beloved book series, this lively musical features Gerald and Piggie and the delightful back-up singers, the Squirrelles, discovering the fun of being in a play and making the audience do exactly what they want. Bring your “bestus” friend and share the laughter.

The play is fast moving and funny. It does a great job of tying together many of the stories from different Elephant & Piggie books in a seamless fashion. The dancing and music is really fantastic and there are lots of things to laugh about. My six-year-old's favorite part was the last part of the play, where Elephant and Piggie realize they have an audience and lots of fun ensues. As for the other three of us (my husband, myself and our eight-year-old), we couldn't pick a favorite part. We loved it all!

This play is on now through December 6, 2015 and I cannot possibly recommend it highly enough. Tickets are going fast for most of the shows, so be sure to get yours quickly!
