One of the things that I feel is most important to teach my kids is the importance of taking care of others. We've got so much, but there are so many people and even kids who are in need. Throughout the year we sponsor several children through World Vision and talk about these kids and what their lives are like. And every year near Christmas, we take time to go through World Vision's Gift Catalog and choose some things to donate money to. When my kids were small, I would pick items that were relevant to our current lives, like prenatal care or school supplies. This year the kids are big enough to select where to use our donation money and I look forward to going through the Gift Catalog with them and seeing what speaks to their hearts.
If you can't choose just one item for donation, World Vision also offers you the opportunity to donate to the Where Most Needed Fund. And with certain levels of donations to this fund, you can choose a beautiful handcrafted item to receive for yourself (or to gift to someone else, of course!). Items include silk scarves, necklaces, soapstone boxes, tote bags and more. This year I got the chance to try out the Silver Vines Cuff. This is available with a donation of $85. It's a gorgeous bracelet that's designed by artisans in Old Delhi, India.
When the bracelet arrived, I popped it on (it's adjustable for perfect fit!) and went out to pick up my kids from school. I got so many compliments on it and Vivian tried to take it for herself when she saw it. It's really lovely and looks good with casual or dressy clothes. It's going to be a great accessory for the holiday season.
I have good news! One lucky reader will win his/her own silver cuff bracelet. Open to US mailing addresses, enter at the Rafflecopter widget below. Good luck!
