Holiday Gift Guide 2015: Car Valet

*Disclosure: I received this product to review for myself. I was not compensated in any other way and all opinions posted here are mine and mine alone.

We spent a LOT of time in our car this summer, mostly driving to and from Vancouver BC to visit my husband's parents. And it seemed like every time we got in the car, we were juggling cans of Diet Coke, water bottles, my husband's gigantic cell phone, and cups of coffee. We used up all three of the cupholders accessible to us from the front seat and still ended up with more drinks/items than places to put them. I recently received a new product designed to help with this exact problem- the Car Valet. Here's a bit about it, from the product's website:

  • Fits snugly between your seat and console
  • Two extra cup holders and storage for phones and accessories!
  • Creates additional space & organizes!
  • Does not interfere with seat space

  • I should note that this item will not work in its intended way, if you have a car like mine, with a console that is placed down lower than the two front seats. I tried lots of ways to get it to work for my front seat, but no luck. I also couldn't manage to figure out a way to rig it up between my kids' two seats, since they are not connected in any way. Fortunately for me though, my driver's side seat has a pocket on the back, and I was able to slide the Car Valet in there. This way I can reach it from the front passenger seat and my kids can also reach it for storing their extra drinks, toys and small items that are constantly in their cup holders.

I think this is a clever and very useful product that would be a great gift for anyone who spends lots of time in his or her car. Great affordable gift idea!
