Review: Exergen Smart Glow TemporalScanner

*Disclosure: I received this product to review for myself. I was not compensated in any other way and all opinions posted here are mine and mine alone.

My daughter, Vivian, came down with a nasty virus of some sort last month and I knew she was running a fever.  When I went downstairs to look for a thermometer, I found that we had one with a dead battery, another that kept saying her temperature was normal, and finally one functional thermometer. But the functional one took FOREVER to come up with her temperature. Even though she's 5 now and isn't afraid of the thermometer, she hated sitting still with it under her arm as we both waited and waited for the beep signalling that it was done.

So, when I got an email asking if I'd like to review the Exergen Smart Glow TemporalScanner, I excitedly agreed. Here's a bit about this lovely thermometer, from a press release that I received:
The TemporalScanner™ comes with four ways to make it even easier to take a temperature:
  • A softly illuminated display for easy reading in any light – perfect for checking the temperature of a sleeping infant in a darkened room
  • Beeping sound indicating scanning can be turned off or on to avoid waking a sleeping child
  • Automatically retains the last eight temperature readings for instant recall to check on fever progression
  • Ability to switch between Fahrenheit and Celsius modes
I've been kind of annoying my family since the thermometer arrived, since I'm so fascinated by how quick and easy it is to take their temperatures. I had no trouble figuring out how to take my own temperature, but it did take a little bit of practicing to hold it right to check someone else. But once I got the hang of it, it was easy. I also like that it has the memory function, so I can see how my sick person is improving or not.  This is a really handy tool to have on hand- I'd recommend it as a great baby gift for new parents!
