Book review: The Next 1000 Days- A journal of ages two to six

*Disclosure: I received this book to review for myself. I was not compensated in any other way and all opinions posted here are mine and mine alone.

I admit it. I'm the type of person whose kids' baby books were always up to date.  I just have that sort of obsessive personality.  And I remember distinctly getting to the end of their baby books and feeling a little lost.  Where was I supposed to record the funny things they did and the milestones they hit?  I so wish that I'd had a wonderful new book from Sasquatch Books back when my kids were smaller. It's called The Next 1000 Days: a journal of ages two to six.  Here's a bit about it, from the publisher's website:

Track the transformative years from toddler and “big kid” with this interactive journal for parent and child. This beautiful companion to the best-selling The First 1000 Days journal (over 50,000 copies sold) helps parents capture the precious ages between two and six. From losing a first tooth to the first day of school, Nikki McClure's beautiful paper cut illustrations celebrate all the special moments. Parents can also write and draw with their child to help bring these years to life and preserve them for all time.

I adore this little book! The illustrations are beautiful and didn't fail to make me smile as I thumbed through the book. I also love the writing prompts- they are more than just recording milestones, they are efforts to record your child's real personality.  Questions like "who you pretend to be" and "how you solve problems" and "challenges and adventures in learning". There are also places for drawings, recording birthday celebrations, writing about travel adventures, friends, holiday celebrations and more.  I also really love that this is a book that's sized so that it could be tucked into a purse or backpack, so parents can catch up on writing while waiting for appointments and lessons.

This book is just lovely and would make a wonderful gift for the parent in your life with a little one!
