Review and giveaway: Gutzy Gear

My son, Ethan, has been going to school for a little over a year now, and he's been using the same backpack (featuring his favorite cartoon character) for that whole time. So this weekend when his little sister got her first backpack, Ethan was thinking he needed a new one. Fortunately for me, the problem was solved with the arrival at our home of Gutzy Gear- an easy and fun way to transform your child's backpack or bag!

Gutzy Gear is another one of those simple, but brilliant ideas. It consists of two soft straps that wrap around the straps of your child's backpack. Then the straps are decorated with Gutzies that attach with velcro.  You can move them around, switch them out, add new Gutzies- whatever you feel like doing.

When I opened the package with the straps, I was pleased with how soft they were. They add a nice layer of padding to Ethan's backpack straps.  The Gutzy Gear straps were easy to attach to his backpack, and right away he was busy trying to figure out where to stick the Gutzies.  Then Vivian had to get in on the action, so we added straps and Gutzies to her backpack too. They're so proud!

I gave a starter set to a friend for her daughter's backpack and my friend also commented that it was a cute and fun idea. The Gutzies that I received are really more geared towards boys (although Vivian seems happy with dog theme ones that are on her backpack), and I plan to make a trip to my local Bed Bath & Beyond to pick up some more girly Gutzies for Vivian's bag.

I've been impressed by how well the Gutzies and the straps have stayed attached to each other and to Ethan's bag, especially given how rough Ethan is with his backpack in the course of getting to and from school on the bus.  All in all, we're really happy with our Gutzy Gear and look forward to adding more Gutzies to our collection!

Right now I have a special offer to share with you guys- if anyone purchases a package of Gutzies (retail price 3.99-5.99), you can email a copy of your receipt or a picture of your child with his/her new Gutzies to Amy@bsmmedia.com and you'll receive an exclusive Gutzy Gear patch that's not available in stores. Just use the subject line “Gutzy Gear BOGO promotion” and include your mailing info.  To find Gutzy Gear in a store near you, either visit this link or email Amy and she'll help you find the closest store that carries them.

And I have good news- one lucky reader will win a Gutzy Gear starter set (straps and two surprise Gutzies!). Open to US mailing addresses only- enter at the Rafflecopter widget below.

Oh my, Gutzy Gear is doing me a favor on this. I just have to redesign my kids' bags with this instead of buying new ones.
