Rural switchboard operator Georgie Gail is proud of her independence in a man's world . . . which makes it twice as vexing when the telephone company sends a man to look over her shoulder.I really enjoyed this novel. I found the characters to be enjoyable, loved the storyline and all the details of the way phones worked long ago, and thought the mystery/bad guy chase was very entertaining. Even though there are lots of characters in this book, I thought that the author did a great job of bringing them all to life and making them seem like believable people. The two main characters, Luke and Georgie were, of course, my favorites, and I thought the love story between the two of them was really sweet. Before Love on the Line, I had not read any books by Deeanne Gist before, but since finishing it, I've gone and filled up my library hold list with all of her other books. I can't wait to read more of this author's great writing!
Dashing Luke Palmer is more than he appears though. He's a Texas Ranger working undercover to infiltrate a notorious gang of train robbers. Repairing telephones and tangling with this tempestuous woman is the last thing he wants to do. But when his stakeout puts Georgie in peril, he realizes more than his job is on the line.
