CD review and giveaway (closed): U R Some 1

I have a confession to make.  A few hours ago, I decided to turn on some music to listen to while I folded laundry and tidied the house.  When I went over to the CD player, U R Some 1, from Recess Music,  was in the player. I thought about it, looked around at the grown-up CDs that I had nearby, and hit play on the CD player.  The reason that this is surprising is that my kids are gone for several days with their grandparents.  Yet I still chose to play their music rather than any of my own! Here's a bit about the CD in question:

Recess Music, a company dedicated to helping kids value a world that is wise, fair, and generous hearted, looks forward to the October 18 release of U R Some 1, the second in its “Best Foot Forward” series of CDs.  U R Some 1 joins Recess Music’s recently released Big Bully in launching the “Best Foot Forward” series.

All the songs on U R Some 1 highlight self-esteem as a key ingredient for living in harmony with others by celebrating the concept that “there is no one quite like you, and you are perfect just the way you are!”  This happy, upbeat album also affirms for kids that all humans are “the same & different AND different & the same.”  U R Some 1’s musical adventure in self-awareness includes 12 tracks that showcase contributions by a sampling of today’s most gifted kids’ musicians, including Peter Himmelman, Anna Moo, and Katherine Dines.

 The kids and I both are big fans of this CD. I really like that the songs are all done by different musicians in very different styles.  Most of the songs are relatively short, which is great for keeping the attention of the kids (or of a slightly attention span-challenged Mommy).  All of the songs are great musically and have great lyrics.  The focus of this CD is on self-esteem and positivity.  Vivian really loved the song "You're An Animal too" since she's a big animal fan.  I liked "Body Parts" and (I'm again embarrassed to admit this, as I was a Biology major) learned quite a bit about the human body!


U R Some 1 is fun and sweet and upbeat and positive and is just great to listen to.  It comes out on October 18th, and I suggest that you keep that date in mind and pick up a copy of U R Some 1.
