Review: Mary Kay Compact Mini and makeup

I don't know if the phrase "girly girl" is actually in the dictionary or not, but if it is, I'm pretty sure my picture belongs right next to the description. I love all things girly- hair clips, dresses, skirts and purses. And, of course, makeup! So when I received a box with several products from Mary Kay inside, I was very excited and opened the box immediately.  Inside I found three products- the Mary Kay Compact Mini, a Mary Kay Mineral Eye Color Bundle, and a Mary Kay Mineral Cheek Color. Here's a bit about the Compact Mini, from the Mary Kay website:
Tiny enough to tuck anywhere, this sleek new compact is perfect for the woman on the go. Enjoy thousands of customizable options. The mirror makes touch-ups a breeze and the hidden well underneath holds tools and applicators. Plus, the patented† compact design features the easy-to-use magnetic refill system.
I've been trying to cut down on how much stuff I'm carting around in my purse, so this compact mini came at just the right time for me.  It's a great little compact- it's very sturdy and stays closed nicely. No flopping open in my purse and getting makeup on everything.  I really like how easy it is to pop the makeup in and out- right now I have the cheek color and eye color that I was sent in there, but it's easy to remove those and replace them with other Mary Kay makeup, as I need/want other colors.  I especially love that the brushes fit into a compartment under the makeup. Having those close at hand, but still separate from the makeup is great.

As for the makeup itself, I was impressed by this as well.  Both the eye color and the cheek color went on smoothly, looked good on my skin, and had good staying power.  The Mineral Eye Color Bundles come in sets designed for your eye color. No guesswork- just choose the one for your particular eye color and three shades come in a box, with the applicators and application tips.  The Mineral Cheek Color is available in a number of shades, all containing vitamins A, C and E to help protect against wrinkle-causing free radicals.

I've been very impressed with all three of these products that I received to review.  If you're in the market for some new makeup, be sure to check them out!

Disclosure: I received this makeup to review for myself, thanks to BlogHer and Mary Kay. I was not compensated in any other way and all opinions posted here are mine and mine alone.
