Ah, Caspar Babypants. Star of alternative rock, turned children's musician. Extraordinary talent, gatherer of big names to perform songs for toddlers. Much beloved in our home. When I received an email asking if I would like to review the newest album from Caspar Babypants (due out on 8/16) I, of course, said yes. I can't believe anyone would ever not say yes to such an offer!
This new album is called Sing Along, and on it Caspar Babypants turns his hand to African folk melodies and early American songs. Oh, and musicians such as Weird Al Yankovic, Stone Gossard (from Pearl Jam), and Frances England (to name a few), make guest appearances. And the end result is fabulous!!
Ethan's been busy with preschooler day camp this week, so he's not been around to listen to music with Vivian and I. But Vivian and I have been home, and this CD has been the soundtrack to our days. I even keep it playing when she's left the room. It's all upbeat and cheerful, but it's not loud or overwhelming. When I'm listening to this CD, I find myself humming along and smiling or laughing at the lyrics. Sing Along! is good music that both my toddler and I are really enjoying.
One funny note from our home- several of these songs have the phrase "yes, sir" in them. We've been working with Ethan and Vivian to say "yes, sir" or "yes, ma'am" to requests. When Vivian hears the songs say "yes, sir", she gets super excited and starts saying "yes, sir! yes, ma'am!" over and over. So this is kids' music that's good music, is fun to listen to, and helps reinforce my child training! Love it!
As I mentioned, this CD will be available on August 16. Visit the Caspar Babypants website for more information.
Disclosure: I received this CD to review for myself. I was not compensated in any other way, and all opinions posted here are mine and mine alone.
