Review: KID K'NEX Roary the Race Car!

I've had two very happy kids in my home lately, thanks to the arrival of a great new toy from KID KNEX called Roary the Race Car!  My kids are big fan of K'NEX products in general, and my son is a huge fan of race cars, so I knew this toy would be a hit- and I was right!

As you can see from the picture above, Ethan was in love with this building set even before he opened the container holding the actual pieces of Roary.  And you can see why- the container has a full-size Roary the Race Car on top of it! Fun to look at and talk to during lunch!

Here's a bit about this new toy, from its website:
Your child can build Roary the Racing Car, Silver Hatch Racetrack's #1 Star! Set includes 18 chunky pieces for easy building fun along with a trophy and road sign for exciting after-building play! Set also includes adapter that lets car run on popular train track systems you may already own. Clean up and storage is easy with the fun customized storage container! For ages 3+.

My husband decided that he would assemble the pieces of Roary for the kids.  He claimed that he was doing this because Ethan couldn't figure it out, but I think he just wanted to play with it himself.   Daniel assembled the race car in just a short while- when I let Ethan do it again later, it took a little longer, but it was definitely manageable for him (he's just shy of 4 years old).

One of the best things about Roary is that underneath the car, there's an adapter that lets Roary run along your typical toy railroad track! When we first played with Roary, Ethan spent a lot of time driving the car around his train track- there were lots of races with the trains that afternoon!

As you can see, still holding on to the cute container, even while driving Roary!
This is such a cute little toy, and my kids (and husband) all completely love it.  On my part, I love that it's fun and that the kids have a good time with it, and that the pieces stay firmly together while it's being driven. One of my pet peeves is toys that are constantly dropping pieces while the kids are playing with them- the "Mommy- fix it!" cries get old after a while! But Roary stays together nicely, even while being driven by a 3 1/2 year old boy.

There are two other race cars in this line, and you can also get a garage building set and a start line building set if you want to expand your collection. Roary and friends and buildings can be purchased at Toys R Us in stores or online. Happy racing!
