Seattle/Tacoma/Olympia- area people-Free Recess Monkey concert this Saturday!

I received some information about an event that's scheduled for this Saturday, March 26th, down in Olympia. It looks like a great way to have fun- and make a political statement as well! Here are all the details:

The budget battle is getting really tough in Washington state.[1] And when the going gets tough, what do the tough do?

Dance!

We're throwing an all-ages-sing-along-dance-party that our legislature won't be able to ignore.  Together we can make sure our legislature can't forget about our state's littlest learners.

Mark Your Calendars: Next Saturday, March 26th at 11:30am, Recess Monkey, the acclaimed kids band that Time Magazine called some "seriously grooving funk" is giving a fun & free sing along dance party for you and yours in the Capitol Building in Olympia, WA to support quality early childhood care and education programs in our state.[2] This is a powerful dance party right in front of the Governor's office and the legislative chambers. It's guaranteed to be fun.

Tell us you'll join us at this all-ages-dance-party-sing-along next Saturday-- RSVP today (your friends, family, neighbors, and, well, basically everyone you know are invited too - the more, the merrier!)

You know you want to come!  This is a Saturday event that's definitely worth a drive to join us (carpool with other moms in your area!)  When else could you dance in the marbled State Capitol dome with your kids?! This is an event kids will remember for years and years.

Why the dance?

Our Capitol dance party in Olympia is sure to stand out. Last year we made a big impact that resulted in some great legislative success for kids. But to make a big statement we've got to have a big crowd -- so join us and help make sure the legislature is all humming the same tune for families!

It's a tough legislative session.  We're in an economic downturn, and critically important programs designed to support young children and families -- from prenatal care to preschool and everything in between -- are in jeopardy of being cut just when families need them most.

We moms & kids may not have high-powered lobbyists buying politicians fancy lunches every day, but we have something much better -- thousands of families across the state who are committed to giving Washington children a great start.

And what better way to make an impact on our legislators then a sing-along-dance-party with kids in the stodgy Capitol?

Picture it: Babies, toddlers, preschoolers, big kids, parents, and teachers all dancing and singing in the rotunda.  Unforgettable, right?

* Don't forget to RSVP for the dance on Saturday, March 26th today. Friends and family are welcome too!

And please spread the word--everyone is invited to join us for an important Recess Monkey dance party in the State Capitol dome rotunda at 11:30pm on Friday, March 26!
