Review: Barbara's Bakery

I've said it before and I'll say it again- there is nothing better than when the delivery man knocks on my door and hands me a box of food.  Particularly on a rainy day spent at home with my kids! I was particularly excited about this latest box, since I knew it contained products from Barbara's Bakery.

Barbara's Bakery just celebrated its 40th birthday and, in honor of that event, Barbara's is saying NO! NO to hydrogenated oils, artificial flavors, artificial preservatives, refined sugar, trans fats, artificial additives and high fructose corn syrup.  And, to top things off, everything is contained in 100% recycled, carbon neutral GreenChoice cartons! Good for the environment and for the consumer!

We got to try out four products from Barbara's Bakery- Multigrain Puffins cereal, High Fiber Cranberry cereal, Snackimals chocolate chip cookies, and White Cheddar Baked Cheese Puffs.  Everything was so yummy!  I'm so glad to have found out about Barbara's Bakery- no artificial ingredients plus good flavor is what I'm always looking for when I'm buying food for my family.  I particularly liked the two cereals-both were slightly sweet, but not at all sugary. The Puffins Cereal is gluten-free, low in sugar and contains prebiotic fiber.  The High Fiber Cranberry Cereal is high in vitamins C and D and full of whole grains. Both now figure prominently in my morning cereal rotation.

The kids kept the cookies for themselves, although I did manage to snag one or two and thought they were great.  I love that the cookies were tasty enough to be a special treat for my kids, and are free of all of the things that I want to keep away from my kids' diet.  And the cheese puffs- they were so delicious that I had to make Daniel take them to work- if they'd been left at home with me, I could have easily eaten the entire bag in one sitting. Nice, light and a great amount of cheese flavor.

Barbara's Bakery carries so many products other than the ones I reviewed. So if you're looking for snack and breakfast foods for your family that don't contain artificial ingredients, definitely check out Barbara's!  And, now through January 15th, if you visit Barbara's Facebook page and "Give the Gift of NO" to friends and family, you can get a Barbara's product coupon for every three Gifts of NO that you give! Free food!
