DVD review: A Charlie Brown Valentine

I was just telling my husband last night that I now have a small idea of how the magazine and fashion world must feel- lately I'm always one holiday ahead of everyone else! You may be on Christmas, but I've moved on to Valentine's Day. And I'm actually really happy to do so, because it's secretly my favorite holiday of the year.

Since I love Valentine's Day and I love Charlie Brown and the other Peanuts characters, I was excited to receive a copy of A Charlie Brown Valentine to review. Here's a bit about this DVD, from a press release that I received:
Love is in the air as Charlie Brown and the rest of the Peanuts gang make plans to celebrate the upcoming Valentine’s Day holiday. It’s the most romantic time of the year and everyone has big hopes of having their dreams of love and friendship fulfilled. Charlie Brown once again finds himself wishing he had the courage to ask the Little Red-Haired Girl to the dance. While he pines away for her, Peppermint Patty and Marcie do their best to woo him.

Unrequited love abounds with the Peanuts gang. Lucy demands kisses and chocolates from Schroeder to no avail. Sally is intent on making Linus her sweet baboo. Snoopy has taken to writing bad poetry on his typewriter. Charlie Brown and his pals may be unlucky in love but they are fortunate in friendship in this heartfelt holiday treat.

DVD Special Features Include:

Someday You’ll Find Her, Charlie Brown – Charlie Brown is in love – again! He enlists Linus’ help to find a pretty girl he spotted in the crowd at a football game.
I think that A Charlie Brown Valentine might now be rivaling A Charlie Brown Christmas as my all-time favorite Peanuts episode. It's funny and heartwarming and bittersweet and hopeful and all the things that you can want from a great Peanuts show.  I watched the main episode and the bonus TV special (both on this DVD) hoping that maybe, just maybe, this time Charlie Brown would find true love!

This is a great DVD, and I can't wait to watch it again on Valentine's Day with my husband. If you'd like to pick up a copy for yourself, it will be available for purchase at the Warner Brothers Shop for $9.95, as of December 28, 2010 (you can pre-order now!).  Avoid the sad after-Christmas letdown- move on to Valentine's Day and celebrate with the Peanuts gang!

Disclosure: I received a copy of this DVD to review for myself. I was not compensated in any other way and all opinions posted here are mine and mine alone.
