Book review: Because I Said So

There are days when it really blows my mind that I'm 1) an adult 2) in my 30s! and 3) a mom. Of TWO kids!  I think it's especially hard to believe because I have so many intense memories of being a kid myself.  It seems like just yesterday that I was begging my parents for things and feeling that they were unfair and mean when they said no. Now I'm the irrational and unfair adult myself! :)

I recently got to review a new kids book that deals with this very topic. It's called Because I Said So, and it's by Keller Williams, the musician whose CD I reviewed recently.  You can read that review here.

This book goes along with the song of the same name from Keller Williams' new album, Kids. It tells the story of L'il Keller as he deals with his mother who refuses his requests for things like an alligator, a bulldozer, a giraffe and pink flamingos. What kind of mother would say no to such reasonable requests!

The book also comes with a CD of the Because I Said So song, so you can enjoy this story in several forms! Along with the fun story, this book contains great illustrations, so it's really visually enjoyable too. My 3-year-old son and I both thought this book was a lot of fun and really liked reading it. In addition to the great story and pictures, I love that the book has a "wish list" page at the back. What a fun way to keep track of the crazy things that your kids ask for!

Because I Said So is printed and manufactured in the USA, and is printed with environmentally-friendly soy ink on elemental chlorine-free, sustainably harvested, recycled stock. I love that commitment to the environment!  If you'd like a copy of this book for your home library, it is available for purchase at www.kellerwilliamskids.net.

Disclosure: I received a digital copy of this book to review for myself. I was not compensated in any other way and all opinions posted here are mine and mine alone.
