Congrats to my winner: Shannon
With greatest apologies to all of the other fabulous, wonderful kids' music artists that I've listened to lately... this is the coolest kids' CD that I have ever heard. Brian Vogan is an early childhood music teacher here in Seattle, and let me tell you, he knows his stuff. Brian Vogan and his Good Buddies: Sing a Little song is one of those wonderful CDs that both parents and kids love. Anytime you have a CD that the whole family wants to listen to in the car, that's an amazing thing!
I love this CD because every song on it is fun and great in its own way, but every song is very different. My foot started tapping along about halfway through the first song on the album and after that I was hooked. Brian Vogan manages to make something as simple as counting to 27 sound totally cool in the song "27". When we got to the sixth song on the album "Wash Your Hands", I laughed out loud. This is a total rock song, all about germs and the importance of washing hands. My husband and I joked that we felt like we should be headbanging as we listened. Since we were in the car at the time and driving in traffic, we opted not to, but Ethan was bouncing up and down in his carseat and having a great time.
I also love the fact that after the rock feel of "Wash Your Hands", the CD transitions to "Last Thanksgiving", a totally hysterical folkish song about a giant runaway turkey. Other songs on the CD like "Space" and "Dinosaurs" are wonderful songs that inspire a kid's imagination. And the CD wraps up with "A Perfect Sky", which is one of the most beautiful lullabies I've heard in a long time. Truly gorgeous.
The CD is available for purchase now at cdbaby.com. Visit www.brianvogan.com for a list of additional retailers. And definitely visit Brian's Facebook page to hear some of the songs for yourself. Seattle-area people- Brian will be performing songs from this new CD at Bumbershoot's kids' concert on September 6.
