Recently I got the exciting news that I'd been selected to be an Infantino Test Drive blogger over at Mom Central. This was very exciting because I have used and loved Infantino products in the past and was looking forward to seeing what they had to show me now! Let me tell you, I have not been disappointed so far!
In my first set of products to test I received several things that I really liked and wish I had had back when my kids were smaller. So stay tuned for more posts! But today I'm here to fill you in on my favorite product- the new Fold & Go Bouncer. When Ethan was born we had a very old, hand-me-down bouncer that sat in our living room and didn't do much more than vibrate and take up space. Vivian was luckier to have a very high-end swing chair that I had won on a blog giveaway. But her plush chair took up SO much space in our teeny-tiny living room. I felt like my entire home was essentially the baby nursery, because there was no way to hide or put away her chair.
If only I had had the Fold & Go Bouncer back then! This thing is another one of those brilliant "why did no one think of this sooner!" ideas. It's a fabulous bouncy seat for your baby, complete with hanging toys and vibrating seat, along with music and heartbeat or nature sounds. It even has a volume control. Very nice, with all the things that help soothe a fussy baby. BUT- the genius of this chair is that, with a couple of simple slides of buttons, the chair collapses and can be stashed away in the corner of a room or a closet or wherever. And, don't worry, the buttons would be hard to manage accidentally or for a child to do, so you don't have to worry about your toddler collapsing the chair while the baby is sitting in it.
I've already promised to send on this chair to my best friend for her soon-to-arrive baby, and she's so excited about it. The first thing she said was "and it folds up- how great!". Even someone who hasn't seen just how much stuff a baby requires knows that this is a fabulous feature! Of course, I have to convince my preschooler that he's too old for the chair first- he still below the 25 pound weight limit for the chair, so I've been letting him lounge in it. He loves it so much!
The only minor thing that I wasn't crazy about was that the toy bar comes unsnapped from the seat pretty easily. But this is actually a good thing for when you're trying to get your baby in and out- no trying to maneuver them below a toy bar, just unsnap it and lift the little one out.
Other reviews have noted that the seat doesn't recline enough for newborns- my kids are older, so I can't comment on that from personal experience. I wanted to go ahead and mention it though, so if you're using it with a newborn with poor neck control, just keep an eye on that. (**See one of the comments below for a new mom's perspective on this issue- she said she had no problems at all with her 5-day-old baby and neck position in this chair).
The chair, folded up
And stashed away in a small corner of our small closet. It stores away so well, even with the toy bar attached!
This would definitely be a great addition to your home for your new baby, and would be a fabulous baby shower gift, especially for space-challenged parents. Visit the Infantino website for more information!
