Last week a friend of mine came over for a playdate and saw my copy of How to Have Your Second Child First sitting on the counter. When she asked me about it, I told her "I love it- I just hope that first-time parents can believe it!" This is the most fabulous book- it contains 100 great tips from parents who are on their second kid and beyond, directed to first-time parents. I read all of the 100 tips and, as the parent of two small kids, I totally agreed with pretty much all of them and wish I'd read this book three years ago!
You can ask pretty much any parent of more than one child, and they'll tell you that they did things differently with their second child- and usually were much more laid back with that kid! Well, after reading this book, first-time parents will have 100 ideas on how to be less worried with their first child as well as encouragement as they transition to this new phase in life. I thought the authors presented advice in this book with a good dose of humor and it was a fun, quick read. I'm sending the book off this week to one of my pregnant friends!
If you are a first-time parent or know one, I'd really suggest getting this book. Granted, there might be some things that the first-time parent just can't believe- like the 1st tip "you don't need to buy all that stuff". There are also things that some first-time parents might already believe- I have to admit I was never a pacifier sterilizer, even with my first. But I think it's particularly important to hear some of the other advice, especially advice that deals with the strain that having a baby will put on your marriage, or the need for a sanity break on occasion, or the vital importance of some sort of support group to help you adjust to this crazy new phase of life. Even if you've heard it before, it's always an encouragement to see advice in print or to be reminded that you're not alone in the things you're going through!
In addition to this wonderful book, I received a bottle of all Free Clear. This was a wonderful thing for me to see in a box- this has been our detergent of choice since Ethan was born. It's affordable, free of dyes and perfumes, and still does a great job of getting clothes clean. I've used and liked other detergents, but consistently return to this one.
I have good news!!! I have two prizes to offer! My first winner will win a coupon for a free bottle of All Free Clear and a copy of How to Have Your Second Child First. My second winner will win a coupon for a free bottle of All Free Clear. (US mailing addresses only, please).
