Review: iPhone app- Baby Calm

A few weeks ago I posted a message here asking for suggestions for great apps for my new iTouch.  One of the people that contacted me was from Synthetic Bits, a company that makes a number of apps for your i device. Since I have a house full of crazy little people, they sent me a code to try out an app that they developed especially for babies, called Baby Calm.

This is another one of those things that I really wish I'd had months ago- it's so handy!  In one little application you have a ton of wonderful things including a sound device, a baby mobile, a rattle, and a fabulous light show. For the sounds, you can choose between a great variety of known baby calmers like the "shhhh" or "shshshsh"  sounds, a hairdryer, a mixer, a lullaby, ambient music a faucet, or even womb sounds! There's a timer, so you can choose how long you want the noise to play. The mobile can be changed from color animals to black and white animals. The rattle is also super handy, and the light show is wonderful for getting your baby's attention and distracting them from crying! My kids both stared at the light show like crazy- there's nothing like random blinking lights to get a kid's attention.

The other part of this app that I love is the "information" section. It contains practical tips and things to remember when your baby is crying. Having a screaming newborn can turn even the most educated and prepared parent into a crying mess, so it's great to have this information on hand to calm the parent down and offer them some ideas of things to do to calm the baby.

You can get the app for $1.99 in the iTunes store. I'd really recommend this if you have a new baby in your home- it would be particularly handy for shopping trips or travel!

Disclosure: I was given access to this app to review for myself. I was not compensated in any other way and all opinions posted here are mine and mine alone.
