Reviews: Two wonderful worship CDs

I have to admit, between my new addiction to travel podcasts and the constantly-playing kids' music in my home, I haven't been listening to much worship music lately.  So it was a wonderful change of pace to have the opportunity to review several new Christian CDs.

The first CD that I popped into the player was I Have a Song, by Shannon Wexelberg. This is Shannon's fourth solo project.  It's a truly gorgeous CD, Shannon's voice is beautiful and clear and full of emotion.  When I was listening to the CD I really felt like I was participating in a worship service. The CD does contain several familiar songs in beautiful arrangements as well as some amazing new songs written by Shannon. You can tell that these songs really come from her heart, the lyrics are truthful and full of worship at the same time.

Last year Shannon's husband was out for a motorcycle ride when he was hit head-on. He ended up breaking 23 bones and having to go through three major surgeries on his road to recovery, and he still has a long way to go.  This experience can really be heard in Shannon's songs- I think you can hear that her voice is one of a person who's been down a long hard road and who has learned to rely on God to get through.  You can visit Shannon's website to hear some clips from her songs or to purchase the CD.

The second amazing CD that I had the opportunity to review is called Love Broke Through, by Jennifer Shaw. Again, when I was listening to this CD, I felt like I was truly able to put all the insanity of my mommy life aside and worship.  I love music that helps me get my focus off the diapers and the laundry and back on God where it should be.

I loved the songs on this CD- it includes "Before the Throne of God Above", which is one of my absolute favorite praise songs.  There are also several other well-known songs on the CD, along with six songs written or co-written by Jennifer.  The majority of the music is what I would expect on a traditional worship CD, but I was blown away by the last song, "E'en So Lord Jesus Quickly Come." Jennifer is trained opera singer and she truly shone on that song.  I loved the song and the singing and the change from what I was expecting. Gorgeous! You can visit Jennifer's website to hear clips from her songs or buy the CD.

If you're looking for some beautiful new worship music to add to your listening repertoire, check these two CDs out!

Disclosure: I received copies of these CDs to review for myself and was not compensated in any other way. I was not under any obligation to give a positive review. All opinions posted here are mine and mine alone.
