Congrats to my winner, ReggieMann
Vivian is teething. Like a mad woman. And she has been for ages now, so we spend a lot of time with the teething toys and gels and whatnot, trying to keep her happy.
So, I was happy to receive a pretty combo set of Dr. Bloom's Chewable Jewels. Chewable Jewels are the original teething jewelry, invented by dentist Helen Bloom Smith. I love wearing purples, so chose this nice lavender color that matches many of my outfits. Isn't that pretty and so perfect for spring? The necklace is on a cord that's latex-free, but has some elasticity so it stretches just a bit when the baby yanks on it. Both the bracelet and the pendant are made from FDA-approved food grade silicone and are free of phthalates, BPA, PVC, latex and lead. And they're waterproof and dishwasher safe- which is important, because you'll want to wash your jewelry off after your baby has been chewing on it.
I am a big fan of the teething jewelry idea. It's hard to remember to bring teething rings or toys a lot of the time when we go out, and it's just one more thing to carry around in my diaper bag. But I almost always am wearing a necklace and bracelets anyway, so it's simple to just put on this teething jewelry- that way I am nicely accessorized and I'm ready for teething crankiness! The jewelry does sometimes pick up a bit of lint, depending on what I'm wearing, so I generally wipe it off or rinse it off before letting Vivian chew on it, but that's simple to do.
We've been putting the Chewable Jewelry to good use lately. I think Vivian likes the colors as much as the chewy texture- she stares at the jewelry as much as she chews on it. That's my girl- loves pretty jewelry! Here are some pictures from a recent shopping trip that she and I went on. She had been trying very hard to chew on the shopping cart handle, then I remembered that I was wearing the teething jewelry and gave her the bracelet to play with. It kept her happy and entertained for most of the time I was shopping and let me shop in peace! She refused to chew on the bracelet for photos, but after I put the camera away she happily gummed on it. Of course :)
