Review: Cheeky Umbrella

A few weeks ago we were in the midst of a typical Seattle winter- one with LOTS and LOTS of rain. So when I saw an umbrella from Cheeky Umbrella reviewed on another blog, I knew I had to write and beg to be allowed to do my own review!  Because if there's one thing I've learned in 8 years of living in Seattle, it's that the cuter the raingear, the nicer your winter :)  Thankfully for all of us, Jen, the founder of Cheeky Umbrella, had a similar perspective on rain and raingear and started her company to provide dwellers of rainy cities with sturdy but still cute umbrellas.

Jen kindly sent me this totally adorable kids' umbrella for Ethan.

Isn't that too cute (and so true!). Cheeky Umbrella also has a kids umbrella that says "Warning: I splash" and one that says "Rain or shine, I'm still cute!" The kids' umbrellas sell for $28 Canadian.

Cheeky Umbrella also has an assortment of beautiful umbrellas for us moms. I love the pink and black one with a cool design on the outside and a message inside that says "It's raining, it's pouring, other umbrellas are boring." Wouldn't that be such a great thing to cheer you up when you're standing outside in the rain?

There are a bunch of other great umbrellas on the site, you'll have to go see them all for yourself. I bet you'll find at least one that you love! The adult umbrellas sell for $44 Canadian.

I'm really impressed with this umbrella in terms of its construction- it's a really sturdy umbrella, and I have no worries about letting Mr. Destructo, my toddler, walk around with it. Which he does, often. I also really like that the umbrella, in addition to being made out of sturdy fiberglass ribs and a nice quick-drying fabric, has reflective trim for visibility. That's so important when your kids are out walking. The umbrella is sturdy, but not heavy. Ethan is a fairly small 2 year old, but he had no trouble walking around and holding on to the umbrella.  The handle is a good size, thick enough to grasp and also slip resistant.

Unless you're a person who loses her/his umbrella frequently, it's worth the investment to buy a nice, sturdy umbrella that's not going to break quickly and leave you getting rained on.  So if you're looking for a great umbrella for yourself or your kids, definitely drop by Cheeky Umbrella and see what they have to offer.

Disclaimer: Yes, I know that it's supposedly bad luck to open an umbrella indoors. I'm not a superstitious person though, obviously :)  I was sent a kids' umbrella from Cheeky Umbrella to test out for myself. I was not compensated in any way and all opinions posted here are mine and mine alone.
