Review: Aden + Anais Swaddles

As I mentioned in another post, I was lucky enough to win a fabulous prize pack of baby sleep things over at Life Starring the Kids and Me. One of the wonderful prizes that I won was a pack of Aden + Anais swaddles. I've seen these mentioned on other blogs, but had never had the opportunity to see them up close and personal, so I was happy to get the chance.

I chose the Princess Posie swaddle pack. It features swaddles in four adorable pink patterns.  I like that the patterns are pretty and feminine, but not overwhelming. They also have swaddles more suitable for boys and a line of unisex patterns as well. Aden + Anais swaddles are made from 100% cotton muslin and are really large, 47 x 47 inches. I wish I had had these to use when Vivian was younger- I was always trying to swaddle her with blankets that were too small and didn't stay on right, or blankets that were too thick and made her hot.

Since Vivian is past the point of swaddling, we've been using these more as all-purpose blankets. Since they're nice and lightweight, they fold up easily for storage in my diaper bag, then unfold to be a generous sized floor covering for Vivian to play on. We've also been keeping one on the couch to use for a burp cloth/spit up cloth. And they're great for playing endless games of peek-a-boo with Ethan as well!

I am going to be very happy to have these this summer, when it gets warm in our condo but I still want something to cover the kids. This fabric is ideal for warm nights, since it's light and breathable.

The only minor issue that I would like to mention is that the swaddles produce more lint in the wash than anything I have ever seen in my life. It really caught me offguard, since they're such nice lightweight muslin, I never dreamed that they would be capable of producing that much lint.  It all goes away in the course of washing and drying, but on the occasions that I washed other items with the swaddles, those items ended up wearing a great deal of lint. I've only washed my swaddles 2 or 3 times now, so this very likely will be less of an issue in the future. But when you get these and wash them those first times- wash them alone.

The 4-pack of swaddles that I received sell for $44.  In addition to these swaddles, Aden + Anais also has swaddles made from organic cotton and a new line of cozy swaddles, which are thicker muslin to keep your baby warmer. And they also sell sleep bags, and bibs and towels and washcloths and blankets! All their items look beautiful and would make wonderful baby shower gifts- something beautiful for the new baby!

Disclaimer: I was not compensated in any way for this post, I just really like my giveaway prize and wanted to write about it here!
