A website that I really like- great gifts for a good cause!

My mother introduced me to a great website during her recent visit- The Literacy Site is a great combination of a place to buy wonderful, unique gifts for your friends (or something nice for yourself) and it's also a site where, with just the click of a button, you can help give a book to a child in need.

It's very simple- you click a button, ads are displayed and 100% of the money from the advertisers goes to charity- in this case to charities that provide books for needy children.  The other thing I really like is that the Literacy Site also has buttons you can click to provide free food, mammograms, child healthcare, protection of the rainforest, and support for animal shelters.  And all you have to do is click a button- no sign-up, no giving any personal information, nothing. You can click all the buttons on the site- and feel that you've helped lots of people out with about 15 seconds out of your life.

If you want to help out a particular cause even more, just do some shopping from the site that you like most. Each one has a huge variety of things to buy- jewelry, clothing, fair trade items, artisan products, things for kids.

And, there's also a place on here where you can donate directly to causes through "Gifts that Give More", such as giving $35 to buy clean water for children, or $25 to protect an infant for HIV/AIDS. There are different categories for each of the causes I listed above (animal shelters, breast cancer, child health, etc.) so you can find something that really speaks to you. My family tries to donate to causes like this each year through the gift catalogs available at Samaritan's Purse and WorldVision- we pick needs in these catalogs and websites that relate to situations we've been in that year- this year we gave money for childbirth kits (since I went through having a baby) and child immunizations (since there were lots of shots for our family), and things like that.  I'm glad to see that this site offers another way to give to those in need.

So, if you're looking for a site that will help you spoil yourself and those you love and help out those in need at the same time, please, go check out this site.

I was not compensated in any way for this review- it's just one I came across and really feel strongly about!
