If you are like me, living with the same old decor all the time in your home gets old after a while. But furniture is expensive and painting is a pain and who needs more accessories! This is why I've been fascinated for a while by all the wall decals I've seen discussed on other blogs and advertised on websites all over the internet.
I got the chance to try one of these wall decals out for myself recently, thanks to Dali Decals. They offered us a gift certificate to their site, and Daniel and I had a great time going through all the options for decor and trying to figure out which room in our house needs help the most (they all need help, so it was a matter of triage!). After looking at quotes for our room or the kids' room, seriously considering a cherry blossom tree branch for the area over our headboard, and looking at some of the many other fun options they offer, we decided to get this very cool circular flowers decal for our living room.
The very nice thing about the Dali Decals site is that you can get your decal in whatever size and color best suits your decor. They have a nice big color chart with lots of options, so you can definitely find something that's exactly what you're looking for for your room.
Our decal came in a nice mailing tube, with all the installation instructions we needed. We quickly figured out where we wanted it and got everything all lined up and taped so that we would have it exactly as we wanted. And we did the rubbing and peeled off the backing... and nothing happened. Because I had failed to notice that on the Dali Decal site they noted that the decals might not work on certain types of textured walls, and they suggest that you order a color sample from them to test before committing to a decal.
We did get it to stick to our wall with a little bit more work, and it looks great. If we had non-textured walls, this entire installation would have taken less than 15 minutes from start to finish. For us it was more like an hour because not only do we have textured walls, but we ordered the decal with the most little tiny branches possible, so we had to get each of these to stick. Dali Decals also sent us some small bird decals to put up, and those went up really easily since they were larger pieces. So if you have textured walls, either be prepared to do a little more work, or stick with the designs without lots of little curves and branches!
But, the extra work was WELL worth the effort in the end, and we think it looks great and really adds a nice bit of character and sophistication to our living room. As you can see from the picture, a desperately needed bit of sophistication, since our living room is a bit overrun with toys and kids' stuff :)
They have so many wonderful options at Dali Decals. Wouldn't this be so cute for a kids' playroom!
And this is one of the beautiful quotes they have.
Dali Decals can also be used outside or in your bathroom, they're made of really sturdy vinyl that will hold up under lots of situations. And the decals can be easily removed, so if you're looking for something to decorate your apartment or dorm room, check these out.
