Review: Brandi Carlile "Give Up The Ghost" CD

Brandi Carlile has a new album out- it's called "Give Up The Ghost"- and it's already a top album for download on iTunes, even though it just was released last week!

This new album has 12 tracks, including:  Dreams, Dying Day, Looking Out, Pride and Joy, That Year, Caroline, Before It Breaks, I Will, If There Was No You, Touching the Ground, and Oh Dear. Visit here for previews of the songs.

I have to admit, I'd never listened to Brandi Carlile before, so didn't really know what to expect. I listened to this album several times to try to get a sense for what her music was about- my best description of it is modern folk music- with a pop twist.  By the second time through, I found myself humming along with the songs and swaying a bit to the music- don't you wish you were here to see that? I especially liked the faster-paced songs on this album and am going to download them to my ipod soon- they'll be great music for when I'm out for walks and looking for a boost of energy to keep pushing the stroller up the hills! My toddler also likes this album- I have it playing right now and he's tapping the table in time with the music and smiling!

The album, Give Up the Ghost, is available now in stores and online. Brandi Carlile is touring right now- check her website to see if she's coming to a town near you.

Disclaimer: I was sent online access to this new album so that I could listen to it and review it for myself.  I was not compensated in any other way and all opinions presented here are mine and mine alone.
